My first real post on the forums outside a simple response or the like...
I thought to write on a few pet peeves I have.
I do not PUG! I hate them. There has been so much said about negative people found in the PUG world. I fear for the Looking for Raid feature because of it. If you Pug, please treat the others in your group with respect even if they do not deserve it. If your tank cannot hold threat (even after the recent changes) please do not treat him/her like a child (they might be). If the healer can't keep up, do not take it out on them in the party chat. How is that helping? I shy away from loudmouth braggarts. I and others find rude behavior offensive and a reason to not play. (Do not get me going on the abuse of the word 'gay'...) Maybe it is the teacher in me, but you could offer your assistance to these people in a private whisper. If it is just not working you could politely say, "Gotta go, pizza man is here" instead of just dropping out or letting the party know how much like loser noobs they are. Again, how does that help? My dislike of the hate culture I find in PUGs has almost driven me away from the game.
Because of my dislike of PUGs, I have only finished one run of a troll dungeon. It is not for lack of trying! I have made it through most of a few instances before the crew quit due to time restraints or the fact the run was just not working. Usually, someone has a snit about the healer, or the tank, or the kind of DPS, or that the phase of the moon was not just right. I admit that I really do not know or have not seen the inside of most Cataclysm dungeons because of it. I will only do guild runs because I know my guildies. I trust them to operate at a certain level of (hate to say it this way) professionalism and maturity.
I am well geared because I raid with my guild and I know my class inside and out. I have made my Firelands daily grind and have the toys to help me along the way. When I am available, I run with guild runs into the instances that are available (I admit my schedule will not permit late-night runs) I do not need some idiot telling me not to waste HIS time in a dungeon because I choose a little CC instead of burning through the instance in record time.
I guess this is my way of reminding people that there are real people behind the toons we encounter. Try (it is hard) to be kind to them. Before shooting your mouth off, ask yourself, "What will it accomplish?" "Is this going to help or hurt?" or "Do I want someone to talking to me that way?"
We all play this game as a means of recreation. It is not a contact sport (ok PvP may be an exception here). When people find it is not fun, we leave for greener pastures. Guilds, servers, and games die because of this.
Just my 2 coppers on this subject.
Feel free to chime in.
