Druid - Lifebloom nerf not really a nerf?

I for one have been doing more than my fair share of complaining about the incoming Lifebloom 'nerf'. Doubling the mana cost of one of our defining spells does not a happy druid make. However, I have been doing some thinking about the details of the nerf, and some benefit may come from the changes made.

The change, as currently listed on the PTR, is that lifebloom's mana cost is doubled, but that it's bloom portion (the final heal on the end that you don't see unless the druid screws up) will now be multiplied by the number of stacks instead of being calculated based on one stack. That means that instead of a 3-stack of LB landing for 3k, it will now heal for 9k.

My thought on this is that the additional healing on the bloom will now serve as an additional 'oh shit' button for tanks. As far as I'm aware, Lifebloom is able to be dispelled by the player that has it. That gives the tank an instant 9k heal that doesn't consume a GCD, is available every 4.5 seconds, and (I could be wrong on this point) is usable even if locked under some sort of controlling effect. This is better than a potion both by amount healed and availability.

Anyone else think this can//will be useful going forward? If this works, it means that rolling a LB stack on the MT will be as useful as before, though for different reasons.

You're leaving out a valuable part of the new mechanic, as well. Even though the mana cost is doubled, half of the cost is refunded when the spell blooms. I'm not sure if removing the spell manually will cause it to bloom (don't think so) but that would be a neat mechanic as well. Overall I like the change. Also, let's not forget the buff to Intensity (allows 50% of mana regen while casting, up from 30%.)

But you're neglecting to recall the general nerf to mana regen that's coming. The intensity buff is designed to keep it from hurting us too badly, and is an across-the-board buff to anyone with a similar talent.

You're correct in that I didn't mention the refund, but as I stated above, if you're letting a LB stack bloom on a MT "You're Doing It Wrong"

Also, I was able to remove my own stack in testing last night. Dunno if that means everyone is able to do it... I'll have to check it out when I go online tonight.
